This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 06, 2007:
Koyaanisqatsi
Music by Philip Glass
Directed by Godfrey Reggio
Michael Riesman, conductor
Without a doubt. When I saw this movie, first of all I had never seen such a beautifuly done visual journey - the film is all moving images and music - there is no script, and no plot or characters.... and it is soo evocative. Lots of timelpase photograqphy of everything from clouds and rives to cites and subways. It is like taking a step back from Earth and looking again... washing the eyes so that they may see what is really going on... The sight of the planet and the perspective that the filmakers gave me at that time profoundly affected my feelings about humanity on planet Earth now. I feel like I really got how important it is that we humans figure out a way to start doing things differently before we completely destroy the natural beauty and order of the small blue orb.

Ko.yaa.nis.qatsi (from the Hopi language), n. 1. Crazy life. 2. Life in turmoil. 3. Life disintegrating. 4. Life out of balance. 5. A state of life that calls for another way of living.
THE HOPI PROPHECIES
If we dig precious things from the land,
We will invite disaster.
Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs
Spun back and forth in the sky.
A container of ashes might one day be thrown
From the sky, which could burn the land
And boil the oceans.
